Infuser for Matcha or Tea

This stainless steel mesh filter can be an essential tea accessory, both for loose leaf teas and to enhance the matcha tea brewing experience. Sifting the Japanese matcha tea powder is a fundamental step to prevent lumps from forming during the use of the whisk. Fragmenting the grains before beating, gives a well sifted matcha that gives a soft, less dense and frothy texture. It's also great to use as a strainer for hojicha tea, to give proper filtration to this tea that contains roasted leaves and twigs. It is also suitable as a classic infuser for loose leaf tea or for infusions, as an efficient fine-mesh strainer.

The advantages of the matcha sieve

Matcha powder naturally clumps due to humidity and temperature changes. Since the lumps do not dissolve with hot water, in fact they can become even more clotted, it is advisable to sift the matcha tea to separate the particles and to aerate them. The matcha sieve allows you to create a soft and frothy tea, avoiding any grainy taste and the sensation of "kneaded" powder. For other leaf teas, infusions or herbal teas, the strainer can be used as a simple infuser. The infuser is suitable to be placed on a single cup but, given its size, it can also be used for the contents of a teapot or carafe.

The infuser style for matcha powder

The filter is created with a single layer of fine mesh, made of stainless steel, which allows lumps of matcha to be gently and easily sieved. This matcha strainer is also defined by a particular design, with a handle decorated with an elegant double spiral. The handle allows you to place the sieve on the matcha bowl, while taking the powder and dosing it carefully. This particular tea, which has become increasingly popular in recent years, has various accessories for its preparation. A real complete matcha set, it also includes the special tea powder strainer among the tools. Known since the eighth century in Japan, this drink comes from a fine powder of green tea, obtained by grinding the whole leaves of the plant.

How to use the sieve for Matcha

To obtain a finer texture of matcha, simply sift it with this filter. Place the colander on the bowl, so that it remains suspended and allows the sieved powder to fall to the bottom. Pour the desired grams of matcha into the strainer and stir with a special spoon, until the lumps are completely filtered and removed. Alternatively, you can tap the side of the colander to sieve without a spoon. Hand wash with warm water after each use. For other teas or herbal teas, the strainer can be used as a simple infuser, to be placed on the tea cup with the lower part to be immersed in hot water.
