Characteristics of the infusion based on rooibos, mango and passion fruit

Let's see the three main ingredients in detail. Rooibos is also called African red tea but there is a reason why we put the word tea in quotation marks, in truth the word tea should only indicate the infusions derived from Camellia sinensis, a plant native to the Far East (in fact sinensis simply means Chinese).
That said, even if rooibos is instead obtained from a shrub (or bush) native to South Africa called Asphalatus linearis (it is a Fabaceae, i.e. a legume, therefore not even a distant relative of Camellia), the procedure for obtaining it is similar (the leaves are taken, fermented and then dried and then chopped), the preparation of the drink by infusion is identical and the flavour is very similar to that of a real tea, with notes of earth and tobacco. Rooibos has a big advantage over tea: it is full of antioxidants but does not have caffeine, which is instead contained in tea.
A historical curiosity: rooibos is an Afrikaans word, that is, the language of the Dutch slave colonizers, the local populations certainly knew the plant and used it in some way, but the drink obtained from an infusion and consumed in the same way as tea is most likely an invention of the colonists who perhaps had difficulty obtaining tea and found a substitute.
Mango is an exotic fruit native to Asia and in particular to a region that includes north-eastern India, Bangladesh and Myanmar. The scientific name of the tree from which the common mango is obtained is Mangifera indica, it should be said that the fruits of other species of the genus Mangifera are also called mango. The family to which it belongs is that of Anacardiaceae. The tree is large and long-lived, it can produce fruit at the age of 300 years. The fruit can vary greatly in size, shape and color depending on the different cultivars and also the flavor which is generally very sweet. The pulp and peel of the mango are very rich in carotenoids, here too depending on the cultivar both the quantity and the type of carotenoids vary.
The passion fruit is native to South America, with three ingredients we have touched three continents! The scientific name of the plant is Passiflora edulis, or rather Passiflora edulis is among the different species of the Passiflora genus that are grown for their fruit, probably the most widespread, but also the fruits of other species of the Passiflora genus such as P. antioquiensis and P. coccinea, are called passion fruit, but in reality the passion fruit that is exported all over the world and which in Italy is also called passion fruit is Passiflora edulis, on the other hand other species of the Passiflora genus even if less pleasant to the palate boast calming properties.
