Characteristics of the Rooibos Maternity infusion Organic

A blend based on green rooibos that, thanks to ingredients such as lemon balm and cornflower, has been studied to relax and combat various aches and pains, so much so that it is particularly suitable for pregnant women. First of all, a joke about the funny contradiction in terms that is the expression green rooibos, rooibos means red bush, therefore green rooibos means red-green bush, in a moment you will understand why. Rooibos is also called African red tea, African it really is (originally from the Cederberg, a region of South Africa), red (or reddish) in fact is the product, but not the plant, Aspalathus linearis (Fabaceae family) is in fact a bush with green and elongated leaves (linearis precisely) and above all it is not correct to call it tea, because the name tea should only be used for the plant native to Asia called Camellia sinensis. However, botanical classification aside, the infusion obtained from Aspalathus is obtained in the same way, fermenting, drying and chopping the leaves, the taste is then very similar, that of rooibos is a little sweeter than tea because it does not contain caffeine and has a low tannin content.
But it does not end here, if we come to green rooibos which is even sweeter and fresher, just like green tea compared to black tea, we discover that the reason why it remains green is that the leaves are not fermented before drying, exactly like for green tea.
And here also comes the explanation of why a bush with green leaves is called a red bush in Afrikaans, because the colonizers had in mind the color of the leaves after fermentation.
Melissa officinalis is a plant of the Labiatae family with recognized calming properties, native to the Mediterranean basin and the Near East. The properties of lemon balm, whose use has been approved for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia, are particularly effective in treating those states of anxiety that are accompanied by visceral symptoms such as nausea, gastritis and other disorders, in fact lemon balm is also attributed with antispasmodic properties.
Another component of the herbal tea is cornflower (scientific name Centaurea cyanus, Asteraeae family) which has recognized anti-inflammatory properties, especially of the mucous membranes, and is widely used for the treatment of eye inflammation such as conjunctivitis and styes.
Lavender is the common name for all species of the Lavandula genus, but usually when we talk about lavender in the medicinal field we refer to the species Lavandula angustifolia (not by chance also called Lavandula vera) and Lavandula latifolia. Both species are commonly found in Italy. Lavender, like lemon balm, is known for its calming properties as well as its very pleasant scent, so much so that it is used for its scent in many soaps, both for personal cleansing and for laundry.
