Dark Japanese style ceramic teapot

Japanese Kyusu style tea set, consisting of the teapot with a capacity of approximately 400ml and 200ml cups. The teapot is made of dark ceramic with a practical and resistant handle. The set includes the stainless steel filter. It can be placed in the microwave, suitable for washing in the dishwasher. This oriental tea set gives the possibility to use accessories created according to the most classic Japanese design. We talk about kyusu style because this word means "teapot" and well defines the design of traditional Japanese teapots with side handles.

Kyusu are usually smaller than western teapots in terms of capacity (100-300ml), but the model we offer in the set, of around 400ml, has a capacity for several guests. However, the teapot is reduced in size to allow for repeated infusions, typical of the Japanese ritual. The tea set features a deep dark colour, with attractive handcrafted effects. The ceramic material with which the tea service is created is resistant and represents Japanese history. Teapot and cups were made in clay by master potters, following the criteria of the ancient Japanese style. Depending on the regions of Japan, even today the craftsmen are specialized in different types of ceramics, The Japanese design of the teapot and teacups The large internal space in the diameter, is used for an excellent infusion of green tea leaves or other tea, inserted loose in the diffuser filter, to expand comfortably and better develop their aromas and flavours. The filter is made of stainless steel, stainless and safe for food; manages to hold the tea leaves as you pour the liquid into the cups.

When pouring, the teapot is held by the side handle, which represents a particular sign of kyusu. This grip has advantages: easier handling, less strain on the wrists when the teapot is heavy. The side handle is positioned perpendicular (about 90°) to the spout, to balance the weight. Each teapot is equipped with a lid, adapted to its opening, which is essential for keeping the tea warm. The design of the teacups is inspired by the style of ancient oriental services: a large bowl without a handle, which spreads the aroma of the tea well. After use, the teapot should be washed in hot water and dried properly. Do not replace the lid before it is completely dry inside, and check the inside of the spout, which often remains moist.

The "Kyusu style" teapot and cups represent a typical Japanese tea service. The green tea ritual is ancient in the local culture, deeply integrated into daily life. The ceremonial practice of tea is widespread, formally or informally, but in any case the kyusu teapot perfectly accompanies the preparation of the drink. The teapot is great if you use the traditional Japanese method. You can steep the kyusu tea leaves several times – for a minute the first time and for a few seconds thereafter. You can also use the teapot according to the Western procedure, using a certain amount of tea leaves for a certain infusion time. An ideal method for small quantities of high quality tea. When serving tea, according to the Rising Sun style, it is preferable to pour about 1/3 of the capacity into each cup, and repeat the operation until all are filled. The system makes it possible to obtain the same flavor and the same quantity of tea for all cups. It is important to pour all the tea contained in the teapot, to prevent it from continuing to ferment – it could ruin the leaves and make them unusable. As a rule, however, once the liquid has been expelled, the leaves are still useful, ready in the filter for other infusions.
