The cultivation of Guranse Emerald Green takes place in one of the highest tea estates in the world, at around 3,000 meters in Nepal.

The Himalayan winds coming from Mount Everest arrive among the bushes, and the plants give delicate, twisted leaves. This is where Guranse Emerald Green was born, a refreshing green tea, with an intense aroma between vegetal and fruity notes (of plum). It is slightly astringent, full-bodied on the palate and sweet when sipped, with a soft character and notes of "muscat" flavor, incomparable with any other tea.

Origins and history of cultivation

This green tea was born in Nepal, among the highest mountains in the world and a climate that can vary depending on the altitude. From snow-capped peaks to tropical plains, the Nepalese landscape offers spectacular variety, also useful for tea cultivation.

The teas from the area close to the Himalayas are aromatic and famous since they were grown and tasted.

A Chinese emperor, in 1842, had given the then Prime Minister of Nepal a variety of tea seeds, to be able to start a particular cultivation.

As early as 1843, Colonel Thapa started plantations in the eastern districts of the country. Since then, Nepal has become one of the best tea producing countries in the world.

Guranse tea is one of the finest grades, coming from a tiny growing area but offering high quality leaves, in limited availability. Traditional Nepalese tea is in fact considered one of the best in the world but it is not easy to obtain it outside its borders.

Guranse estate tea is born on the green hills of the city of Hile, in the Dhankuta district in eastern Nepal.

The estate is taken care of by small Nepalese farmers, who collect the leaves and process them, in an area located at an altitude between 1000 and 2200 meters above sea level. Guranse is probably the highest tea garden in the world!

They produce very small, bright green, tightly rolled tea leaves with silver tips. They are born this way from the combination of shade, sun and rain and are selected from among the youngest and purest.

Green tea goes through careful processes to block its oxidationand, guaranteed by certification. It is toasted and selected to give a light and refreshing infusion.

In reality, green tea is not the only type grown in the Guranse Tea Estate, where 100% organic teas of superior quality are produced.

Green tea contains values of comfort and refinement in its taste. It can be consumed with a strong or light infusion, depending on your preference.

Tea plant

Camellia sinensis is a species made up of shrubs or small evergreen trees, belonging to the Theaceae family of flowering plants.

Its leaves and leaf buds are used to make tea, and begin as shiny, bright green leaves.

The white, fragrant flowers of the tea plant, alone or in clusters, then produce green-brown fruits that contain one to four seeds.

The tea plant provides black, white, yellow and green tea, as well as oolong and pu-erh tea. It is the processing of the leaves and buds that makes the difference, to produce the different teas.

The plant lives between 30 and 50 years, and if left wild grows to become a tree of about 9 meters, with a canopy. Usually, the plant is pruned to facilitate the collection of the leaves by hand.
