The pectin contained in the apple promotes intestinal transit, purifying the intestine of toxins: it absorbs food better and avoids gastrointestinal disorders. The action of the apple within the hot infusion is useful for purifying the respiratory tract and counteracting the symptoms of colds or congestion - thanks to flavonoids and pectin.

The element of walnuts represents a real pantry of vitamins and mineral salts, in association with the apple. The strong point, the nutritious value, is given in particular by the nutrients which can be energizing or relaxing, according to needs. The antioxidant melatonin contained in walnuts induces sleep and promotes rest.

The apple also has qualities that facilitate sleep, having a calming action on the nervous system thanks to the presence of magnesium and zinc. Other substances in the walnut and apple mixture help improve a good mood and counteract tiredness. A good balance between iron and potassium fights stress, along with elements such as fatty acids and melatonin. The combination of dried apple pieces and walnuts creates not only a satisfying delight, but a resourceful infusion for our well-being. It becomes energetic in case of tiredness, thanks to the nutrients of the walnuts and the sugars of the marshmallow.

Origins and history of cultivation

Walnuts have been known for millennia, originating in Asia and then quickly spreading everywhere – walnut shells emerged from excavations in the Neolithic period, around 8,000 years ago. Walnut trees are mentioned as early as 2000 BC. from the Chaldeans of Mesopotamia: the clay tablets that tell of the decorations with walnut groves in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. In Greek times, mythology sees walnuts appear in the story of Carya, transformed into a walnut by the Dionysus who had loved her. The tree was considered a source of prophecies, sacred to Apollo. It was also connected to Jupiter and the gods, who according to legend fed on walnuts, and for this reason the tree is called Juglans or Jovi glans – Jupiter's nut. From a nutritional point of view, the Romans discovered the qualities of walnuts in terms of taste and well-being. A success that lasted even in the Middle Ages and until the eighteenth century, when in Europe walnuts were soaked with almonds to create a nutritious milk. There are now many varieties of walnuts in the world and among the best known nuts in Italy are the Sorrento walnut. Other types are Franquette walnuts, California Hartley walnuts, Chandler walnuts, and black walnuts (Juglans nigra) from eastern and English North America. The apple tree species (Malus) are native to the temperate zones of the planet, in both hemispheres. The species now cultivated and widespread everywhere probably comes from the original wild apple in Central Asia (10,000-4,000 years ago). From Asia the apple tree reached Europe along the Silk Road and hybridized with other similar wild plants. Over the centuries, many distinct varieties have been selected and improved, which today number in the hundreds. Among the top producers in the world are China, the United States and Turkey. Apples are grown both for sale as fresh fruit and for the production of vinegar, apple juice, jelly, cider, wine and brandy; as well as other food products. Marshmallows are sweets, initially obtained from the sap of the root of the marsh mallow, called marshmallow (the botanical name is Althaea officinalis). Sugar and egg white were added to the root. They were also used as syrup. Today, modern marshmallow treats are usually created with a mixture of corn syrup or starch, dextrose, gelatin and egg white (in our infusion glucose, vanilla, sugar, corn starch, milk powder). The mixed ingredients are heated to approximately 115°C, whipped until double or triple the original volume; finally, they are flavored according to taste.

Fruits and flowers

The apple plant is the apple tree or Malus domestica of the Rosaceae family. It is a small tree native to Asia, now widespread throughout the planet for obtaining apples. If the apple trees are not pruned, they can reach a height of 9 meters and a vast canopy. The simple leaves have an oval shape, with showy white flowers. The fruits vary in color and in many varieties, and have been used in human nutrition for millennia. The walnut plant is Juglans Regia, belonging to the Juglandaceae family. It is native to Asia and today is cultivated all over the world. It gives the fruits of the walnuts, edible in the kernel part, contained in a woody shell, contained in turn within a fleshy and green rind (walnut husk).</p >
