Today we are preparing a red latte: a tasty drink made with milk and rooibos tea.

We have often suggested recipes for creamy, frothy, delicious and comforting tea lattes, but probably none of the recipes suggested so far had rooibos, the African red tea, as a basic ingredient.

The ideal option for those who cannot consume caffeine. With a pleasant, delicate but enveloping flavour, it is definitely worth trying. The procedure is the same as usual, and as always, you can also use plant-based milk if you do not consume animal proteins. In this particular case, to prepare your rooibos latte, we recommend coconut milk or almond milk.

How to prepare rooibos milk

Let's start with the preparation of the tea. Bring the water to the boil and infuse your rooibos, leaving it for a few minutes longer, about 6 or 7, to obtain a more intense flavour, otherwise the milk will overpower it.
In the meantime, start frothing the milk you have chosen to use and add it to the tea as soon as it is ready.
Red tea has a naturally pleasant and delicate flavour, so it is not essential to add sugar, but if you prefer a sweeter taste, we recommend using honey or your favourite natural sweetener.

To make the drink a little more elaborate, you can also use a flavoured tea rather than plain rooibos. We tried it with caramel-flavoured tea.

Also delicious with the addition of cocoa, cinnamon or vanilla.

This drink is also very enjoyable when served cold.
