How to prepare man'ouch za'atar (or manaish zaatar)

How to prepare man'ouch za'atar (or manaish zaatar)

Today we're sharing a really tasty recipe...which is also handy to take to the beach or on a picnic. In today's post, we'll see how to make man'ouch za'atar, a yummy herb-flavoured ‘focaccia’.
We can easily call it ‘Lebanese pizza’ because the dough is so similar.
Man'ouche za'atar is best enjoyed warm, accompanied by fresh summer vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers.
The preparation requires a little effort and time, but when you taste it, you will see that it was worth it!

Let's move on to the recipe, starting with the ingredients:

350 g plain flour

120 g 00 flour

Just under 300 ml water

A pinch of sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon active dry yeast

1 tablespoon oil

Half a cup of za'atar for garnish

Let's move on to the preparation:

Using a sieve, pour the two types of flour into a large bowl, add the salt and mix well.
In a separate glass, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let it rest for about 5 minutes.

Make a well in the mixed flours in the bowl and add the water, oil and dissolved yeast. Mix and then knead until the ingredients are well blended and you have a smooth dough.
Let the dough rest and rise, covered with a damp cloth, until it has doubled in volume.

Once risen, divide the dough into smaller pieces and prepare some olive oil and your zaatar in a separate bowl.

Roll out the dough balls with a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface until you have discs that are not too thin and of the right size. Tap the surface lightly with your fingers to spread the seasoning evenly over the surface.

Spread the za'atar and olive oil mixture with a spoon and place your man'ouche on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

They should bake at 180°C for about 10 minutes.
