This infusion gives innumerable properties, due to the various ingredients that compose it. Banana infusion contains some water-soluble nutrients, antioxidants such as dopamine and gallocatechin, which protect the body from free radical damage. It is particularly recommended before going to bed and enjoying a good sleep. Some elements relax the muscles (tryptophan, potassium, magnesium): promote rest, relieve stress and improve mood. Furthermore, with its astringent properties, the banana is a very useful food in case of diarrhea - it rebalances the functions following intestinal disorders. The banana plant, originally from South-East Asia, has spread over the centuries in various territories. In ancient times, it was known in the West thanks to the expeditions of Alexander the Great to India (4th century BC). Over time, bananas arrived in Europe through the Arabs, who knew their healthy properties. They were cultivated in Sicily from the Middle Ages, but remained little known in other territories. In the seventeenth century they spread to many parts of the planet, thanks to the colonial voyages undertaken by the Portuguese and the Spanish. Today bananas are among the most consumed fruits in the world, and they grow throughout the tropical area.

Plants and fruits

The components of the infusion are many, and the mixture contains leaves and flowers of different origins: hibiscus, dog rose, pineapple, banana, papaya, calendula flowers.
The banana plant includes various species, belonging to the Musaceae. Among the most widespread are the Musa balbisiana and the Musa acuminata. It is a plant that prefers a warm tropical climate, and grows up to 7 meters in its wild form. The fruit represents a false berry, which contains no seeds. It develops without the flower being fertilized, and matures even after being separated from the plant. The banana, in fact, is known for its conservation capacity; moreover, the maturation depends on the temperature.
Hibiscus is a tropical herbaceous plant (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis), belonging to the mallow family, Malvaceae. It grows in full sun or partial shade, in the form of over 200 species and many cultivars. Hibiscus flowers are famous for their many colors, from white to red, pink, yellow and orange. They are dried and used in herbal medicine or for nutrition.
The Rosa is a plant of the Rosaceae family, present in over three hundred species and thousands of cultivars. It can take the form of an upright or climbing shrub, and gives flowers of different shapes, sizes and colors - from white to yellow and deep red. Most of the species are native to Asia.
Calendula officinalis is a herbaceous plant, up to about 70 centimeters tall.i about. Its flowers show a yellow-orange color, for which it is also called fiorrancio. From these flowers various soothing properties are obtained, for well-being and cosmetics.
The Ananas comosus is a fruit plant of the Bromeliaceae family. It grows best with excellent exposure to the sun, and very slowly (it takes up to 2 years for full maturity). It develops purple, pink or red flowers, and the famous pine cone-shaped fruit. Fruits are formed from flowers and berries of the plant, which combine to form a single fruit.
Papaya (Carica papaya) is a plant of the family Caricaceae. It grows up to 8 metres, and displays male and female flowers on separate plants. According to some scholars, it could derive from the fusion of species originating from Mexico and Central America. Today it is grown throughout the tropical world, for its succulent fruit.

Nutritional values of cherry and banana infusion

The main active ingredients of the infusion are vitamins (C and group B), and minerals such as potassium, manganese and magnesium. Other beneficial groups of antioxidants and substances are bromelain, tryptophan, papain. How to use the ingredients in the infusion The cherry and banana infusion is obtained by placing about 3-5 grams of the mixture with water at 100 °C in a cup (250 ml). Leave it to infuse for 10 to 12 minutes, before drinking the diuretic and relaxing herbal tea. Add honey or sugar, if desired.

Cherry and banana tea: side effects and contraindications
