Artisanal orange blossom honey, light in color and delicate, fresh and citrusy flavor. Perfect for sweetening tea or for preparing baked desserts, excellent with yogurt and cheeses.
honey, orange.
Let's start with an obvious fact: orange honey actually tastes like citrus, going into more detail it must be clarified that if the aroma is clearly citrus on the palate it is actually much more delicate than the aroma might suggest.
From the point of view of appearance, orange honey tends to be very light, especially after crystallization which occurs quickly (crystallization is a natural process that all honeys undergo but at different times) when it becomes practically white, in the liquid state it is instead straw yellow. The citrus aroma that is very pronounced at the beginning tends to decrease over time, the flavor as anticipated in the introduction is not acidic or aggressive as one might fear, it is instead sweet and rather delicate, so much so that it is one of the most universally appreciated honeys, meeting the favor of most palates. As for food uses, the characteristic indicated above makes it versatile, it is combined with both sweet and savory: it is recommended in baked desserts and to flavor yogurt and cream-based desserts, but also on cheeses like other honeys. A very common use of orange honey is in sweetening tea.
Obviously the usual ones, common to all honeys, such as the energy supply and the restorative effect useful in preventing seasonal ailments or in recovering from them. A beneficial characteristic commonly attributed to orange honey that is instead more specific is a calming and relaxing effect, so if you are trying to promote sleep or even fight insomnia with (for example) a milk sweetened with honey, orange honey would seem to be the perfect choice. According to some, the relaxing effect would even reach the point of having calming properties useful against anxiety and stress and even painkillers useful against gastrointestinal pain. Some explain these properties of orange honey with the vitamin content that would be higher than that present in most other types of honey, it seems quite a fake news caused by copy and paste between sites, because it should be remembered that in honey there are indeed various vitamins but in very modest quantities and therefore even if it is true that orange honey is among the richest, we are still talking about small quantities. Let's take an example: on average 100 grams of honey contain 0.04 mg of vitamin B2, considering that the daily requirement of this vitamin is around 1.6 mg and that I would like to know who consumes 100 grams of honey you will realize that among the many wonderful properties of honey there is no particular vitamin intake.
